A fabulous evergreen tree with characteristic red fleshy berries (called arils). Single seed in each aril. Typically used for hedging and topiary. Birds eat the arils and spread the seed.

Deciduous and often called ‘Lady of the Woods’, this is possibly our most beautiful native tree with smooth grey bark and copper and russet autumn foliage. This modularly grown stock is designed to be planted immediately, adjacent to one another, to create an instantaneous hedge. Green leaves in summer, then in winter the leaves turn rustic brown whilst retaining some of the leaves. A classic, native choice.

Prunus Lusitanica (Portuguese Laurel):

This luxurious dark green Evergreen features pointed, glossy leaves on beautiful bright red stems. It has small yet fragrant white flowers in summer and bears small red fruits, turning black in autumn. The Lusitanica is easy to grow in all soils and situations. It’s a relatively fast grower at approx 40cm pa and should be trimmed to shape in late summer.

Thuja Occ. Brabant (White Cedar):

Evergreen. A fabulous alternative to the Leylandii. It grows slower, smells delicious and will perform in deep shade. Clipping is not such a worry as if you were to cut a little deep it can re-grow from the branch. Unlike the Leylandii where when you see brown, it's all over and there will be brown for ever more. Grows well in all soils. We really rate the Thuya as a great plant for an evergreen conifer hedge.

Evergreen. Common box is a vigorous, bushy, upright shrub or small tree. It has small, rounded to oblong, glossy dark green leaves. Its dense habit makes it ideal for hedging or screening and it can be closely clipped into different shapes. An excellent plant to make into topiary, as you can leave a smart finish after trimming. It's best to choose the dwarf form of this shrub for low hedging to create a knot or parterre.

Evergreen. Dense, bushy, evergreen shrub with large glossy, dark green leaves. It makes an excellent hedging plant & can cope with deep shade under trees as well as full sun. Small white flowers are produced on spikes in mid-sping, followed by cherry red berries (harmful if eaten).
